I am currently making a ranged DE named Uriel the Archer, and I am requesting some help from y'all wiser bunches ;). I am sure that a ranged Dark Elf is a strange class, but I like to experiment, so it seems to be a challenge worthy of my important  time. If anybodz has any clue as to how to make a Ranged DE, plz respond, for I am in deep destress

Since a DE doesn't get ranged combat, this will be an extremely difficult build after lvl 50.....trust me I've tried.

Two ways to go with this...either regular bow or crossbow. Xbows have more dmg, but bows have a faster firing rate.

For either you'll need to pump agility and dexterity.

xbows have str mods and bows have mostly dex mods

As far as ca's go, forget attack. You only get two hits per.
Better to go with HH or multi.

I've found that pumping Battle Fog is a must. While Battle Fog doesn't seem to affect champions/bosses, it's great for crowd control

Cast a Battle Fog right on top of you and then start attacking. The mob will come after you and the hit Battle Fog, which makes them just stand around. Easy pickings. Ignore the mob if there is a champion in the mix. Attack him first, then the mob.

A lot of DE set pieces have crit mods. Try to equip as much crit as you can.

also pump Testosterone...you'll need all the help you can get with dmg boosts.

If you're up for a challenge, then this is a good build to try. It will take a bit to get going so the key word here is patience. It will be a slow leveler at first. But if you use Battle Fog and alternately maybe Confusion, this build can work.

If you got any Q's just let me know :)

Doesnt the new set Jdahns (not exactly sure of the name) give you ranged combat as a set bonus?

ya, its J'Dahn'Nielo's Mastery that gives +ranged combat, also gives +WL, +dex, and +chance for open wounds (dont remember exact values tho, sry) but i thought u had to have at least 1 point in a skill for item bonus' to affect it...

Final set bonuses sometimes confer unusual abilities.

Like "secret damage" from Amarri's set (unresistable damage), or Poison immunity (they call it something strange--but that is what it means) from a daemon set. Kleb Drackib's.

DE Ethan-Rhys grants Waterform (invisibility)--though I think this is broken when you attack (so you might need to keep re-equiping..ie tip your hat).

Amadeuss on the SOIF says that you DO get the ranged ability--ie can equip ranged combat items when you complete the set. He thinks it is a bug.

One of the other ways round using the Ranged Sets, is to take Sword Lore gain 10 skill points in it so you can use Arunums set rings. Once able to use these you can socket them in to the ranged weapon sets and be able to use them.
