View Full Version : Did anyone use WIDD with a Dwarf?

And if you did, what worked, and what didn't?
I'm partly wondering about the damage cap on each type for Dwarves... but also wondering if this aspect of the game has ever been investigated.
Gogo seemed to be the only WIDD booster out there... and we all know he's Sera-centric! ;)

WIDD = Wounds Increase Damage Dealt - the more hurt you are, the more damage you do. A very involved and nerve-wracking way to play, especially in hardcore, but capable of producing huge damege numbers.

WIDD is the mod "wounds increase damge dealt" Flaash. When your health points are low you deal extra damage. I tried it on a BM once but only had about 150% WIDD which didn't give enough extra damage as i had to fill all my sockets with rings giving +WIDD. I think it was Schot that said you need about 300% for it to work, which means lots of shopping to find the equipment to boost it that high. I'm not sure how viable WIDD is since UW, i think it was nerfed along with the PAIN mod:(

Wish I'd read this thread weeks ago. I kept reading that this is the best modifier out there. Have tons of stuff with it but will sell it all now. It never seemed to help with monsters. So what is the best ring/am modifier?

Well. The dwarf can pretty well control his life meter.
Armour skill.
Entrench CA (improves all resistances)
Battle Cry (improves attack/defense rating)
Dwarven Armour( boosts Fire and Poison Resistances)
Forging skill/forged items: Opens up MF forging that also boosts all resistances.
Trade skill: allows Dwarf to tailor amour to the area used (or just boost all resistances equally).
WIDD: For it to work, you need to have a low remaining life meter. To get there quickly, use the pain modifier (each hit drains life x%), or just allow crossbow men/orcs to rip into ya.
Trouble with WIDD: when you have low life total and the lag monster comes knocking..even a short lag time is enough to end it all.
The Drain life mod (pain) will never bring you to 0, lowest you can go this way is 1 life...but any old arrow/bolt/spell/melee hit is enough to kill ya.
Definitely the least used mod in Sacred. Definitely.

Well...I cant say that I've tried WIDD with a Dwarf but I have done with a BM (lvl 141) and I'm still testing in Open at the moment and the damage numbers are INCREDIBLE!
I hope to become a WIDD expert so that I can help others that are interested. Schot and Gogo helped spark my interest and then fill me in on what I needed to do and I hope to return the favor to the community now. I plan on using WIDD with my gunner dwarf when he gets to Niob (or maybe even plat) to boost his damage up. My BM has had great success with WIDD but I want to make sure he can live so that he doesn't die after all my time of shopping! The BM is wearing 598% WIDD and its just a great deal of fun to see a Fireball that normally deals 35K dealing 470K!
I hope this sparks ur interest or answers ur question,

Seems to me that one builds a char with the idea that it will use WIDD...but don't use it yet.
Then when you reach a level where you can cherry-pick which parts of the game you go to... you pick an area like VoT where there are no ranged attackers (thinking of arrows/bolts/spells) {there still is Sakkara fire bolts}. There, WIDD will shine.
Everywhere else, WIDD is one way ticket to your doom.
Whaddya think?

I disagree I only level in VoT because it is the hardest place to survive...with the BM because the high attack rating the guys have...but Flameskin with BM also helps stop those pesky arrows, but I'm just still working out the kinks I don't think (or hope) that you will all just cast out WIDD from your thoughts this easily

VoT is easy for survival for a WIDD BM.
1) Banish melee. That is: don't allow melee. This renders flameskin's damage ineffective. But hey, it still protects the BM from the Sakarra's gaze weapon. How to banish melee? Simple. Level 1 Circle of Fear.
Cerebropods a problem? Solution: Cast Circle of Fear from combo. Cast main attack spell (boosted by 20 levels) from combo.
2) Use ranged attacks since nothing can touch you in VoT.

Well...I haven't used circle of fear, but still I think ranged WIDD dwarf is incredibly viable but I feel like my efforts are in vain at the moment until I have some proof...
