You've heard of Girl Power? Now hear this: Dwarves have Dwarf POWER! ;)

I played a bit with a couple of Dwarf builds using Dwarven Technology... and Cannon Blast CA is great. Given how much RSM the Dwarf can find at the shops... you can have a powerful CB that kills single foes from distance in a single hit. (Provding you aim at their chests--be little off...and you'll graze them...and make 'em really angry!)

Then, I tried out the Flame Thrower. FT is similar... fries 'em nice...provides and area of effect... you just have to time it right...and, if combined with Entrench... you can just sit then and burn'em all up. The Entrench runs out around the time they are all dead (or well dead). 15 s max on Entrench timer.

I suspect they rebalanced this character--and eliminated the +X CA on most equipment--since the Dwarf doesn't need it. (At least up to level 70 for me.)

The Dwarf has a damage cap, which has vexed some Builders. But that too is part of the balancing act I think... designed in by the devs.

What other CAs do people like from the Dwarf, and what do you think about the Damage cap? This last is directed at the Niob Dwarves... a rare form of Dwarf...or so it rumoured. ;)

Hi Dave!
It is so good hearing that you are putting that keen sense of discernment of yours to use in your Dwarf builds. As with all of my toons thus far, I picked a few CA's and stuck with them. For my Dwarves I maxed out my Greed as soon as I could, but because of the armor penalty on Greed (which goes down as the levels go up) I had to do the same for War Cry, which boosts his attack and defense stats.
It took my Vamp a few weeks to get the hundreds of runes necessary, but LilRiggs (lvl 180) now has around 1630 MF when Greed is active.
You're right about FlameThrower. It is a very good attack, and it also has LL (or it used to anyways). I didn't get to use Dwarven Steel as much as I would have liked to, but that too is a nice addon for attack stats.

Frosty I have seen several players with Dwarfs up in Niob, one was very close to 216, so it looks like you can get your fat little guys up there as well as any other toon.

Dwarfs are absolutely bonkers in the latest patch, like everyone has said, don't worry :D .

Without the War Cry Combat Art, many of those Greedy Dwarves would be hurting much more on their monster runs. I did like the power of Vehemence, but that was for Single Player. Multiplayer is MUCH more unfriendly to characters not using a shield. With the exception of a Gladiator, Dark Elf, and Daemon I believe the other characters are better off using a shield for resistance and protection.

I've been testing a simular build in the past week and discovered two things of Entrench wich may become a disadvantage.

The first is that ranged fighters are able to hurt you a lot (still! :( ), while the melee fighters barely scratch you.
And since ranged fighters have the nasty habit to walk away from you when you get too close, you sometimes aren't able to cremate them at the spot..... erm, to kill them with your FT.

The second disadvantage is that 15 seconds can be a bloody long time if you have to wait before you're able to move again. Especially when you can see a nice juicy mob walking at the edge of your screen and being out of reach of your FT. :o

However, the test also gave me the solution to these problems.

The first part of the solution is called: "TRADING!".
Keep it maxed and keep shopping for all of these nice +1 skill and +x LL amulets and rings.
Socket these to increase your resistances, your LL and when you're able to find some having a +y to Strength of Phys Regen, they're even more useful.

The second part is: "Get yourself cornered!"

This may sound odd, since the moment you are cornered you have to move through the opponents in front of you, but being cornered gives you a major advantage too.
The advantage is that the monsters can attack you from one direction only, making it a lot harder for them to hit you, while you got the perfect opportunity to use your FT and send them to the eternal fields of ashes. :D

The last part is: "Lure and burn!"

Lure as many monsters into one group as possible, cast Entrench and War Cry and fry them.
The maximum duration of FT is 5 seconds, meaning a 3 second regen time is enough for you to kill lots of monsters in the 15 seconds your Entrench works.

If you use these three steps into caves, dungeons (both having lots of undead which have a high vunerability to fire) or at the fields of Urkuk near the ruins of the town, you can harvest XP faster as you can imagine. Unless you got a lot of imagination.
