..back to the time i was looking for those runes , there haven't been so many players around to support me with runes.. so i collected about 2800 of 3000 runes i needed on my own... ask Jimmy about how often he had to come and help me to mule hundreds of runes all the time, again and again :p

Well... long story short: Best rune-farmers imho are the attack-vf vamp and the CB-dwarf. They are the fastest and best mf/rune/item farmes i played so far, sure that's all about personal playstyle and not objective very often...

Anyway, here are some details about a good working dwarf, who finds runes really fast:

(if not interested in a fairly detailed mini-build guide, you may skip the whole post and read the last paragraph why i usually take the dwarf for hunting runes)

The Rune-Hunter Dwarf
('Cannon Blast-Technician')

easy tu build, ready to play - out of the box

Skills

Weapon Lore (maxed)
Dwarven Lore (maxed)
Weapon Technology (up to a nice speed increase)
Constitution
Armor
Parrying
free
free

Attributes:

Phys Reg

Basic Gear:

Just create another lowl lvl trader-dwarf and rock @ Braveshop (ah, other way round ;) )

I prefer one at lvl 3 bronze and one on lvl 20 silver,
or only one lvl 12 dwarf, whenever i'm low on slots.

equipped with +1skill/trade amus/rings you find, you may also want to look for this stuff to equip your rune-hunter with:

items with max. sockets and high +reg s-move
enough +1 CA amulets to fill your sockets with
~2-4 rings with +4 ll
~1-2 amus with +4 ll
~5 amus, +crit 5

This build needs only one ! rune into Cannon Blast, nothing more.
But because we will find tons of runes, we can even spare a few for the rune-hunter. (in early stages 1:1 into CBlast, FThrower, WCry, Greed .. later as you like to, usually bit more for CB and Greed..)

Flame thrower & Co. is also only optional for faster mob-killing, and
maybe you find nice stuff when using greed - combined with a bit mf socketed once you feel fine and your regen of CB is low enough to skip the +CA amus.

Then, you can read CB runes instead. don't worry you won't need much for always beeing able to one-hit kill your enemies. you don't have to use more than 1 CB rune up to charlvl 20 approx.

depends once more on playstyle, resources and player-skill

add. booster:

as you can see above, there are some skills free we can choose from, take what you want.
Only the first 3 are important, rather then anything else.

there's many unique+set stuff it's always nice to have:
(maybe you find/have some of those items,or you're pleased to receive them as a gift)

Full Fadalmars (eg for FT @ low lvl+dmg, but fast regen)
Full Thar Eross/single parts (shield-mf gloves-ll cannon-CA girdle rsm etc)
Full Goilomns set (260 runspeed, exactly what we could need too)
Dirk of Pestilence, unique (dagger 2s, +rsm +crit +ll)
Drauglurs Warmace, unique (nice 1h axe 3s +phys dmg% +rsm +crit)
Heridons Saber, unique (1h sword 3s +rsm +CA +mf)
Thodrans Ring (+fire dmg%, +crit +split)
Thar Eross Ring (+mf +crit)
all other mf jewellry
silasas ring of conc. (one has +CA, the other +CA +crit)
etc etc...

Good Regions/Monsters to look for:

This cannonshot-dwarf is predetermined to be one of the best rune-hunter amongst all charclasses, from lvl 1 bronze up to platin lvl 100 (at least) These are regions+monster i usually send send him to:

1-6 from isle straight to P-Vallum, Portal (goblins+goblin shaman bosses)
6-12 around Porto Vallum, or NW+NE directly into one of those undead caves
12-xx orc cave in khorad, spider desert near shaddar, etc etc...

Erm.. Now what was it again why you have been reading all this ?
(or what makes the CB-Dwarf such a great rune-hunter)

Every Char that is able to inflict enough dmg, very fast - without reading loads of runes (that as we know -significantly decreases our chance to find runes in combat).. could be a good rune hunter.

But i like the dwarfen rune-farmer best, because.. i just like dwarfs^^ sure... But this tiny fighting bowling-ball comes also with other nice benefits at the same time:

The Dwarf can easily push his dmg via WL and a few mods only, needs almost no runes and can take out single bosses with one or a few shots, killing+running very fast (best for rune hunting+other quality-loot)

He is also one of the best mf-item hunters in the whole game, he and the vamp are plainly the chars who can achieve highest mf values.

in addition, he's a good trader as well, and he has his unique 'forger skills' too.

---------------------------------

Some experiences/test results i made so far:

I believe i have used him to collect more than over 4000 runes so far...^^

When you're lucky, and having a nice run-speed whilst beeing able to one shoot-kill your enemies, you can make ~100 +/- xx Runes in a single hour.

(iirc, i usually collect about 60-110 in 60 minutes or so)

When I finally got round to creating my first Dwarf, I tried CB as the main CA.

I found the damage ramped up very quickly.

I still find it odd though that you didn't read more than one rune in CB. It doesn't sound like it could get enough damage to be worthwhile.

However, I now want to try this out!! (So many things to try, so little time!)

of course it's working..
i'm actually only reading 1 CB rune - at the beginning; because even with high rsm your FT/CB reg time could be rather high with all those +CA ammys you may want to socket in.
(i usually have about +10-20 to all CA's at the beginning. the first few lvls, i use any weapon without any CA, then switching to FT and after that to CB.. this all changes very quickly..

when i'm off the isle, i'm using already CB/FT only once i am about lvl 6-12. and boy, it's really no prob to go there without any troubles at all...

Whoever doesn't want to use CA/FT when the reg time is higher than the casting/animation sequence (happens - as said - sometimes within the first 6, 12 lvls..):

just buy any rings to socket into, at lvl 1... (use claws, eg.. very good for ANY char at startup)
then rush through, up to lvl 12-16.. there your FT/CB time should be definitely under duration, otherwise you did something wrong..

one CB rune is enough, for the first 20 levels at least. that's because you can socket all those +CA amus you could shop with ease, reading a few runes later, at any time you want to (at the point your reg time is low enough)

Within a few days, i may be able to post some pics of such a rune hunter dwarf.

You can believe me, it's working.. though i must say that you have to shop for quite a while to complete a lowlvl quick-starter package... but once you have it, you can use it for any other dwarfs later on too, no ? ;)
