I recently started a new DE with Bottomless Pit (BP) as my main CA. I figured it would be interesting to see if I could get it to survive.

I had written off BP since at level 1 it took a long time to instantiate, and only fired off once.

However, with tons of Sacred experience, I figured I should revisit it.

I took the Big 3 Skills for trappers:

Weapon Lore
Trap Lore
Ballistics

Boosted the first two to char level, and the last one is getting spare points.

The BP Elf is at level 60 (taking level 47 to 60 in VoT or {TdT in German}).

I've felt the pull of Poison Mist a few times...but have yet to succumb. These days, I'm thinking now that I finally have Trade Skill that I should light all the CAs and rely on Trade to bring them to viable level (in turn, this kind of boosting is clearly not possible to use all CAs equally without respec-ing equipment).

I called the character DirtElf (in German--can't recall the name)...but now I'm thinking I should've called it Brad. Or Dags. ;)

Yours from the trenches,

Frost

Frosty as you might remember when i first started playing Sacred I played nothing but Dark Elfs for the first year. I found that BP was a very effective CA once you had the damage lvl high enough and the regen time sufficiently low to carpet the area. I did find though that at times PM used in conjunction with BP was a killer combo.

PM used in conjunction with BP was a killer combo.

That's because PM used in conjunction with anything is a killer combo... ;)

or... PM (coupled with Test) is a winning combination.

So far (level 60) he still hasn't got a PM rune read yet. I actually did read a rune... but the German servers come down nasty when they reset... so that decision got rescinded.

(Last night... my Dwarf became level 30 three times. I'm hoping he will be level 31 when I log in tonight... not level 28 again.)

Fire/Poison are resists that are less resisted than say... Physical. It is a double whammy for some, and a single whammy for others...(who have a high resist in one, but not the other).

Can't think of a monster that has high resists to both. Probably is one out there... maybe on of the Dragons. Though I thought all were low in resist (relatively speaking) to Poison (except D'Cay ---who is 0 resist to Fire.)

Once you get past a certain point with test and pm you can poison anything quickly, from undead up to those big spiders and beyond - I think my level 129 trapper has test 150 and pm 100, and is a long way past that point!
