Thanks PC, I had already decided that I would wait for patches from Microsoft before changing cards, because of the problems you and others have had.

I am beginning to think that you have a software problem rather than a hardware problem cat.
The fact you can run some rather demanding games okay suggests this. I have just tried to install Kings Bounty on my dual boot pc (XP 32bit and Win7 64 bit) under Win7 and for the first time in years I got a BSOD. ![]() I have Kings Bounty already installed under XP and its fine. I am going to try again and install it under Win7. I will report back. ![]() edit: Well I got Kings Bounty to install properly the second time but unfortunately for you cat I don't have a problem running the game under Win7 64bit. The game plays fine for me. I have done some searching on the net for issues with your video card and there does seem to be numerous people with problems with nVidia drivers and Win7. I'm sorry cat but because I have used ATI video cards for years and I still mainly do all my computing under XP (though I am experimenting with Win7) I am at a loss as to what you should try next. Hopefully someone else can read the information you have posted and shed some light.

Thanks Stubbie for all your advice. It's really just one game that won't run at all. I was a beta tester for the 3d part of that game and have been playing it since 2003. Every driver release changes how the game graphics look so there's still hope if that's the problem.
As a non-computer person, it's frustrating that with each video driver installation, some software will run better and some not at all. Can't they just improve the prior version so eventually, everything works?

saw this on the diablo site: NVIDIA 196.75 Drivers Kill Blizzard Games
Posted 4th Mar 2010 09:39 PM by Leord Not strictly D3-related, but it IS related to all other Blizzard games: It seems the latest NVIDIA drivers are poison to anyone playing 3D games (which would be most NVIDIA card owners), malfunctioning in terms of fan speed, causing overheating, loss of FPS and theoretically a burned graphics card. Head over to StarCraft: IncGamers for the full story. i have an nvidia geforce 8500gt but i havent been having any problems driver wise |

Thanks for the warning. I have driver 196.34 that was released on Feb. 8, 2010. Can't believe they have another update so soon. Will definitely skip this one. People are reporting it's destroyed their pc, not just their video card. Ouch.
